IPhone Short Film

One thing I've learned is that while waiting for that big project to come together, or when you're deep in post-production on your film, it's crucial to keep honing your skills as a filmmaker. And what better way to do that than to dive into the world of one-person filmmaking - writing, shooting, directing, and editing all by yourself.

I find the process of filmmaking solo to be pure joy. I love having the freedom to shoot however I want and being able to adapt on the fly to any environment. While I've had the opportunity to work on short films with a professional crew, I've also spent the last few years creating over a hundred micro short films, specifically for Instagram. A lot of these micro shorts capture spontaneous moments in New York City, almost like a street photographer.

My latest short was shot with my iPhone 15 Pro and the Black Magic Camera App. You can view it below, but it's a testament how far we've come along with creativity right at our fingertips.

Remember, it's not just about practice; it's also about learning. Short films give you the chance to tell a compelling story in a concise and focused way.

So, what's the big takeaway here? If you're a creative person, carve out time to start filming. The point is to immerse yourself in the process and develop those essential life skills as a filmmaker.

Keep chasing those filmmaking dreams, and never forget - practice makes progress!
