Turning Passion Into A Feature Film
Embarking on my first feature film as a writer and director is both an exciting and thrilling experience, but it also presents challenges that test my determination and confidence. Making The Wild Dreamers is a huge responsibility—I not only direct the film but also serve as my own cinematographer and sound recordist, all while continuously rewriting scenes with my non-actor cast, who bring more to the project than I could have imagined.
I've had many people inquire why do it all yourself and the real answer is, because my budget did not allow for me to hire professional technicians. Despite the obstacles, and I can assure you there was always an obstacle, I see each one as an opportunity to learn and grow. Through it all, self-belief is my greatest ally, reminding me why I embarked on this journey.
I've come to understand that every film starts with belief and the courage to turn vision into reality.
As Stanley Kubrick famously said, “If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.” This quote reminds me that any idea can be brought to life through perseverance and creativity.
So for anyone that feels discouraged, it's okay, but I encourage you to take the time to daydream and make something for yourself, it can be photography, painting, writing, filmmaking. Be true to yourself, and make your art however you see fit.
